It was nice to have today off. It gave us the opportunity to call our S/W in St. Louis, Danielle N. and see how things are coming for us.
In a nut shell. We are #2 in line. The #1 family, is specifically waiting for a girl under the age of 18 months. We might be able to pass them if a boy would be avx for adoption before a girl. Tentativly Danielle stated that we could possibly expect a call some time between mid-March and April. So I take that to mean late March.
Danielle stated that we will need updated medicals and either a blood or urine drug test before trip one. Also, we will need our psych evaluation letter sometime between trip one and two. Of course all of these papers will need to be notarized and apostilled. They all have a relatively short "shelf life" between 3-4 months.
We then talked about re-accreditation from the Russian government. Danielle stated that CHI has been verbally told by the Ministry of Education they should have no concerns about re-accreditation. This should happen sometime in May.
Finally. I called our benefits broker on Friday to get more detailed information on how to go about dealing with our future child(ren). She stated that Blue Cross/Blue Shield gives us 30 days after having a life event to make the necessary changes. She further went on to say that we and our family will be covered if we need medical coverage. The process, as with any international claim, is to pay for any medical expenses up front and file an international claim when arriving back in the states. She further went on to explain our financial options for coverage.
On a different note, Cathy and I believe that we have been shouldering most of the work regarding our dispute with the district. Our uniserve representative from the union, and for that matter our contact in the union, have been giving minimal at best support for us during this trying period. I do realize our situation is unique, but if it wasn't for the efforts of Cathy and myself working dilligently to champion our own cause and becoming experts in PA adoption law, we would not have gotten our desired outcome. We just feel based on the very limited help/support we received, disheartened.
